Habari Backup Plugin

Published 2008-09-29, tagged , and

A lot of people trying out Habari have asked me if I plan to write a backup plugin for it, the way I did for WordPress. I still get emails from folks thanking me for the wp-db-backup plugin, along with the occasional request for help restoring said backups. I'm glad to know that something I wrote has been so well received and helpful to so many people around the world. After some reflection, I decided that writing a backup plugin for Habari would be a good thing to do.

I'm happy to announce the Habari Backup Plugin! It's a work in progress, still, but initial tests suggest that it will work fine for most personal blogs. I've successfully backed up my personal blog, skippy.net, without problems, as well as a variety of test blogs. Habari Backup currently supports MySQL and SQLite databases. I don't have any experience with Postgres, but I'm happy to accept patches from folks who are!

Check out the full details, and download the Habari Backup Plugin today!
